Personally I find very hard campaign and normal battle difficulty the most fun. Play around with the difficulty settings until you find one that suits you. Use infulence to keep all high elves and potential trade partners friendly and until you have like 40k income just contiune developing. Go Tyrion and confederate all of ulthuan, spam noble heroes and do a lot of trade, and boost anything that is trade related(meaning make any trade buildings, research any trade tech, put perk points into trade related stuff in heroes and lords if and when they have such).
